If you are a Clarke fan you will enjoy this rewrite. Never read any of Clarke's works, this book is a good place to start. The Book of Skulls. Only 6 left in stock - order soon. So few books are written about what goes on inside mens' heads about other men, especially when the focus is not on war or women, that this seems almost to stand alone among adventure or horror stories.
I read it when it first came out and read it again when I found it available here. It had a huge impact on me then and again now. It is about the biggest of themes - life, death, the meaning of both and what comes after - and the most petty - jealousy, backbiting and competition just for the sake of wining. To read it when you are young opens up a world of possibilites and to read when you are old reminds you that youth is not everything and that age has a value that the young cannot possibibly comprehend. I love this book. Tau Zero SF Masterworks. Only 20 left in stock - order soon.
After having read several of the reviews for Tau Zero I have to say that in general I agree with a lot of what the people who gave the book a low rating are saying but I still think it deserves 4 stars for the following reasons: I believe that the basic idea behind any sci-fi novel is to present a new or possible technology or other fundamental change in society and speculate on how humanity would deal with that change. In the case of Tau Zero humanity is reduced to about 50 persons and the change involves the universe, as we know it.
The reason that the book focuses on human emotions some reviewers went so far as to call it a soap opera is because in the end, good sci-fi is not about the technology; it's about the people. And that's what this story is Only 10 left in stock - order soon. An interesting twist on the questions of global population.
When your sources of animal protein are limited. Only 2 left in stock more on the way. Firstly I must thankyou to Gollancz for publishing this SF masterworks series which re-prints almost forgotten gems of the genre. The nostalgia value alone justifies buying some of the books in this series. Essentially this is good quality popcorn SF that will entertain you but not really challenge your brain too much. I have to wonder exactly what makes this particular space opera novel a "classic" in the eyes of the publishers?
The Godwhale SF Masterworks. Steere Sunny Florida.
niatomtbamasc.ga The ideas in this book are thought provoking, and the story itself is a fun read. It's the rare book that combines a fun read with this much "bigthink": Blood Music by Greg Bear and Snow Crash are two that come to mind. A very recommended read for sci-fi fans.
Engine Summer S. In stock. Instead of dwelling on the negative and serving up a diatribe against mankind's folly, he offers us a poignant, lyrical coming of age story with a post apocalyptic backdrop.

- Angels Flying With One Wing (The Stonebridge Trilogy Book 2)!
The catastrophe, termed simply the Storm, is not elaborated upon. In it's aftermath, society splits into 3 factions.. Angels, who were technologically advanced and built a floating city to escape.. There is a resemblance to Native Americans in the names, dwellings, and customs of these people.
